Domenica Ewald is an interdisciplinary artist, art mediator and yoga teacher born in Germany. Her work explores the intersection of contemporary art and embodied practice to encourage connections across people and disciplines and create spaces of encounter and transformation.
In her practice, she draws on somatic methodologies, movement-based research and artistic tools to find ways of making sense and expressing bodily knowledge across different media. To this end, she has collaborated with different museums, theatres, schools and other artists to investigate the effect of embodied being on cultural spaces, and develops interdisciplinary, process-based projects for different groups of people and contexts. Among others, she has collaborated with the Lenbachhaus Munich, Museum Brandhorst, the Pinakotheken Munich, MPZ Munich and FOKUS TANZ e.V.
In addition to her work as an artist and art mediator, she has developed Move&Feel, a format combining yogic practices and intuititve drawing and has worked as a project manager for and together with various international artists, companies and festivals (e.g. the Bavarian State Ballet, the Pina Bausch Foundation, Ceren Oran and Curious Seed Edinburgh).
She holds a degree in Arts and Learning from Goldsmiths University in London, in Theatre and North-American Studies from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany, and is currently completing the MFA Creative Practice (Transdisciplinary) at Trinity Laban in London to further explore connections and thinking across disciplines.
